This is the first single from Sheffield-based singer-songwriter Richard Hawley’s new album, ‘Lady's Bridge’. Richard sings in such an old fashioned way and a voice that is so cigarette stained in style that the late Lee Hazelwood would be proud of it. ‘Tonight the Streets are Ours’ is immaculately delivered with lush-sounding instrumentation and a female singer who sounds like the mermaid girl from ‘Stingray’. The B side is ‘Vickers Road’ which has production so lush that it might have been the Walker Brothers, while Hawley’s vocal is reminiscent of Scott Walker himself.
