intro
50's inspired first single from the Raveonettes' second album that "sounds like what Bully Holly would have if he had discovered a distortion peddle"
My current favourite band return with their third single to date and their first from their second album 'Chain Gang of Love'. 'That Great Love Sound' is, as we have come to expect, as noisy as usual, but the tracks on it are sweeter than on their past records as they are recorded in another key. The title track is sung as a duet about a very f***ked up relationship, which of course many relationships are, but which only the Raveonettes are brave ebough to sing about. 'Bubblegum', the second track, is a 50's style jangly B movie lullaby, and sounds like what Bully Holly would have if he had discovered a distortion peddle. 'Get Lost' again sounds like Buddy Holly, as does the final track 'I Don't Like You, So Get Lost'. The 7" version features an exclusive B side with 'Get Sick', which is not on the CD, but beware the 7" has been very badly pressed and a lot of copies are scratched up. 'Get Sick' has a killer tune, and is a 50's style shlock classic. It is a pity only 1000 punters will get to hear it, as it is the best of all the tracks featured on this single.
