intro
Exuberant psychedelic pop on 7 inch comeback single from legendary New Zealand band, the Chills
Martin Phillips's legendary five-piece band band the Chills return to deliver a new track to celebrate his 50th birthday. 'Molten Gold', which is also their first new release in ten years, makes its debut on 7" having been initially released on download only. The Chills, who are from Dunedin, are one of the bands that made Flying Nun one of New Zealand's greatest labels. 'Molten Gold' is short and sweet, a Celtic-flavoured psychedelic pop, number full of flowing violins that dance along with crisp guitars that add bounce to the summertime fun. 'Pink Frost' is a revisit to a track from 1982, which recalls prime time Echo & The Bunnymen. It's two minutes before vocals join in on this track, a song full of the joys of Kiwipop that jingles it's perfect jangle to the finest order.
