intro
Elegant and melodic latest album from Wolf Alice which takes its influences from 70's soft rock
On their latest album, ‘The Clearing’, Londoners Wolf Alice have spurned the loud guitars used so effectively on their 2021 ‘Blue Weekend’ record. Instead, they have turned to Seventies-style soft rock on an impressive album that was actually made in California with Adele's producer Greg Kurstin. The result is an elegant and melodic record which avoids pastiche. 33-year-old singer Ellie Rowesell ponders the possibility of motherhood on ‘Play It Out’. ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ - which is all about being a woman in the still-macho world of rock - is more of a throwback to Wolf Alice's powerful riffs of old! ‘The Clearing’ is a very different kind of album for Wolf Alice - and it demonstrates their increasing range and capability. It should help the band develop an even wider following as they currently tour the USA and later Europe, arriving in the UK by late Autumn.

Phenomenal debut album from the difficult to pin-down Wolf Alice, which switches effortlessly from folk to grungey guitars |
