intro
Joyous and free of thought latest album from Portland, Oregon-based electro artist and Audio Dregs label mastermind E*Rock, which flirst with both garage rock and filthy techno
Storming Oregon electronica artist E*Rock is the mastermind behind the Audio Dregs label of Portland and every three or four years he lashes out on his own. Stunningly beautiful compositions featured on E*Rock's earlier albums, but on 'The Clock & The Mountain' a change has come. All of a sudden it's banging fun all over the Pacific Coast of the US. Flirting with garage rock and filthy techno, E*Rock's album is a hard-hitting affair. Very much an exercise into the depths of electronic trance with twists on end, 'The Clock & The Mountain' binds minds in the meantime. 'Java' and 'False Fortress' count as just two of the highlights from the album. Since Ratatat gained some popularity, E*Rock's move does not come as a big surprise. If my brother can pull the trick, so can I, he must have thought. Ratatat is like E*Rock's brother in arms. Unwantonly, this E*Rock LP/CD teases the whole concept of music. 'A Dangerous Abstraction' sets the equation. The album shifts the good from the bad by method. The pumping beats, however, leave no room for such contemplation. The album is very much the antidote to Ratatat's formal music, in being joyous and free of thought.
