intro
Superb free download single from indie pop act Tender Trap, which finds front woman Amelia Fletcher retruning to the punk energy of her earlier bands Talulah Gosh and Heavenly
Tender Trap’s new offering, 'Girls with Guns', is kick-ass pop punk at its best. Beautifully black, this song, the first from their forthcoming third album 'Dansette, Dansette', is a return to her Talulah Gosh/Heavenly-esque roots for front woman Amelia Fletcher. A song about female revenge on the promiscuous male sex, she cold-heartedly sings on it, “Do you know what I’ll send if you do that again?/A bullet to your brain!” Fiercely feisty, it is reminiscent of the feminist fury captured on Heavenly’s 'P.U.N.K.' Girl EP. This might have something to do with Tender Trap’s recent change in line-up; Elizabeth Morris of Allo Darlin’ has taken up the fuzzy guitar, alongside Katrina Dixon on the stand-up drums. This riot-grrrl type re-vamp has reintroduced the punk energy to the outfit, casting off the more melodic traditional pop sound that the band has pursued in recent years. And it is fair to say that 'Girls with Guns' announces this new direction with gusto! Fab!
