intro
Surprisingly disappointing and depressingly downbeat new album from Astrid Young, the sister of Neil Young
This is not Astrid Young's first album, but it is the first one that I have heard. And, to be honest, I am not impressed, which is a big surprise because she is after all Neil Young's sister. There are nine songs and the album lasts for just over 42 minutes, but frankly it seems forever. It is hard work. The last song, '$150', is bearable and it has a Jim Morrison style spoken outro, but by the end you are still pleading for the silence. All the songs mainly rely just on Astrid's vocals and her 12 string acoustic guitar. Astrid tells us lots of little tales, but they are not really very interesting, and, quite frankly, they are so downbeat that they make the whole listening experience a pain rather than a joy. I hate to say this, but this is one of the worst albums that I have ever heard. Sorry, Astrid !
