intro
"Wired" slow-burning guitar pop from American sextet, Fiver, which has been produced by Jason Lytle from Grandaddy
As lazy as band y multiplied by narcotic z analogies are: imagine Clinic kept awake for a fortnight with only the benezedrine in their sweaty fists for sustenance and the voices in their head for company. It’s night time, we’re totally wired and the streetlights look like angel trails guiding us on home. He sings the opening “Take a drive… drive in these lights… feel alriiiight…” like he’s got a rope around his neck tied to a lamppost and his foot on the accelerator. Apparently this album was produced by Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle but we doubt it was him who made the serrated guitars scrape like nails across those hovering, deathless vocals. It’s the morning, everything is this weird screwed up blue colour and we’ve burned our nerves to a crisp. Death wouldn’t dare interrupt us now.

Eventually Something Will Happen (2001) |
"Quirky" is the word that came to mind on first hearing this album - right from the first song, 'Horse Pill Vector', odd song titles and unexpected guitar patterns build into an invigorating original |
