intro

Brighton-based psychedelic/prog/rock collective Shaw’s Trailer Park follow up their impressive debut with a new album which once again challenges and delights

Shaw’s Trailer Park’s self-titled first album, released in 2023, was a glorious, giddy mix of punk, psychedelia and rock. Their new album ‘I Thought I Saw You’ delves into the realms of garage and Paisley Underground, deepening and expanding their sound in equal measure. Opening track ‘Overdriver’ launches the album, a straightforward rocker which has echoes of Hawkwind. ‘On the News’ is notable for impressive punky strumming and drumming. ‘Crash Landing’, by far the best track of the album, calls to mind The La’s, a jangly yet mellifluous track spun around a gorgeous guitar solo. ‘Sunday’ explores elements of jazz and space rock worthy of the mighty Gong. ‘Don’t Put Your Baby Over There’ veers into R&B territory, and final track ‘Put It Down’ provides a choppy, flaring, tumbling climax. Formed by guitarist and vocalist Tim Sanpher, who is also the band’s main songwriter, Shaw’s Trailer Park features Mark Wilson on bass, drummer Andy Fraser, Simon Smith also on guitar and vocalist Sam Ireland. ‘I Thought I Saw You’ sees the band continuing to evolve rather than consolidate their sound, establishing them as one of the most exciting bands touring the UK right now.
