Hello and welcome to the November edition of the Pennyblackmusic Magazine. Our Bands Nights have been a part of our work for almost twenty years, and we have organised shows during that time in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and above all in London. We are returning there to the Water Rats in Kings Cross for a show that was originally booked in early 2020, but was postponed twice because of the pandemic and will now hopefully finally go ahead on the 29th January. It is a sort of summary of some of our previous highlights, as all of the acts who are playing have been on previous bills except for the Belle and Sebastian/Guided By Voices-influenced The Volunteered who are a successor to another band Partisan Waves which played a Bands Night .in 2016. They will be launching their debut album ‘We Fall Apart’ at our Bands Night. Also on the bill are sublime indie pop outfit Idiot Son, ‘urban country’ duo Morton Valence who will be previewing songs from a new album they have been working on, and Bromide frontman Simon Bromide who has his own solo album ‘Follow the Moon’ out this month. Tickets are selling well, and £8 in advance from We Got Tickets and £10 on the door. As always this magazine has been put together by the support of a lot of talented people. Thank you to Kimberly Bright, Steev Burgess,, Nicky Crewe, Julie Cruickshank, Nick Dent-Robinson, Dave Goodwin, Zena Greig, Tommy Gunnarsson, Fiona Hutchings, Adrian Janes, Steve Kinrade, Richard Lewis, Eoghan Lyng, Steve Miles, Spencer Robertshaw, Mark Rowland, Maarten Schiethart, Neil Swift, Lisa Torem, Andrew Twambley, Cila Warncke, Denzil Watson and Amanda J Window, all of whom contributed to this edition. Special thanks to our webmaster Richard Banks, without whom none of this would be possible. We will be back in early December with a reviews update and then just before Christmas with another full magazine. Please check out our regular Facebook and Twitter links.
