intro
In our series 'The Image That Made Me Weep', in which a different one of our writers or photographers reflects on a favourite image, Keith How writes of the video for Sigur Ros's 'Olsen Olsen'.
If you want to see me cry, see the hairs stand up on my forearms or see me dissolve into the dust of the universe just show me the video for Sigur Ros's 'Olsen Olsen'. Here are memories of my first visit to Iceland and finally understanding something I only dreamt might be true. The juxtaposition of nature, music and the human soul. Iceland is majestic and beautiful and it stirred my soul.I knew it would. This video is perfection. Sigur Ros in full flow, the lovely people smiling and enjoying the music and, of course, the landscape. The drama - a painter's dream. Such beauty, such wildness such joy and freedom. Romantic? Yes, but the heart wrenching entwining of the two magnificent forces, landscape and music, tear open my heart and soul and I see heaven through the tears.
