intro
Andrew Twambley takes photographs of the critically acclaimed Fun Lovin' Criminals at the Academy in Manchester.
The multi-platinum New York trio Fun Lovin' Criminals recently played a headline UK tour to celebrate the release of their new album ‘Another Mimosa’. Fun Lovin’ Criminals erupted onto the music scene in 1996, providing a refreshing counterpart to the Britpop movement with their slick blend of funk, blues, soul, hip hop and jazz. Fun Lovin' Criminals' debut single ‘Scooby Snacks’, famed for sampling the Tarantino films 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Pulp Fiction', provided them with immediate fame upon its release in 1996. Their debut album 'Come Find Yourself', which came out later that year, spent over two years on the UK charts, and they have since gone on to record another six studio albums, '100% Colombian' (1998), 'Loco' (2001), 'Welcome to Poppy's' (2003), 'Livin' in the City' (2005) , 'Classic Fantastic' (2010). 'Another Mimosa', which came out in January, like their 1999 compilation album 'Mimosa', consists of cover versions and re-workings of well-known Fun Lovin' Criminals hits. Fun Lovin' Criminals consists of frontman Huey Morgan, Brian ‘Fast’ Leiser on bass, trumpet and samples and Frank ‘The Rhythm Master’ Benbini on drums. These photographs of Fun Lovin' Criminals were taken by Andrew TWambley on 29th March at the Manchester Academy. Photos by Andrew Twambley www.twambley.com
