Imaginative and adventurous electronica on new EP from Turin duo, Sal

Turin breaks duo Sal reinvent electronica melodica over the course of a 4-track EP. The first track, the overture, sets the pace without any scruples before a fat bass drops on 'Malik'. It is hard to fathom that Sal's anarcho-chique is this utterly smooth. Perhaps it is how the Revolution will be won. The first of these excellent 4 tracks is 'Toussaint Overture' – which mesmerizingly build-up like a trance club tune but with an edge though. Squeaking bleeps meanwhile raise the pulse beat on the brooding sinisterness on ‘Malik’. 'Elephant' combines smoothly beats and breaks. The closing track 'Kaiser Doc' rounds off this little masterpiece belter of an EP. The title may appear a little daft, but the four tracks off this EP merge together well. The EP has the impact of an LP. Crammed with ideas and riddled with adventurous beats, the 'Achtung Banditi!' EP might be a little too much for the standard DJ. For the time being, Sal most likely will be a critics' pal.
