intro
Our Website of the Month is My Dad Rocks, a music and cultural website for older music fans
My Dad Rocks www.mydadrocks.co.uk is a music and cultural website for older music fans. "Why is it that as we get older most people's musical tastes are stuck in the era of when they were in their 20s and early 30s?" asks Steve Boniface, its music editor. "They are not interested in the new artists or think that they can't compare to bands from the past. It's a concept that John Peel couldn't understand. As he said people still enjoy new films as they get older, so why not new music?" Steve describes My Dad Rocks as being a website for those "who can enjoy The Enemy, The Vaccines and White Lies as well as The Jam, Pink Floyd or Echo and the Bunnymen." "As well as album, single and gig reviews," he explains, "we now have sections devoted to looking at the latest books, movies (in the cinema and on blu-ray) and technology including mobile phones, audio and TV and even cars. In short anything you can listen to music on or in or with. Or just stuff our crack team of writers and news hounds thinks is really interesting." While at one level self-deprecating in tone, My Dad Rocks is also informed, passionate and well-written and a vital resource for the older fan.
