intro
Exuberant fifth solo album from Los Angeles-based electronic musician, rapper and producer, Thavius Beck
Busy in the way that DJ Shadow once was, Thavius Beck on his new album exuberates a showcase of his production skills. The title of 'The Most Beautiful Ugly' is very much a contradiction in terms, as it 4 by 4 or, perhaps put better, square dance tiptoes through your mind. This album is like the perfect dubplate for years to come. Like hip hop without words, or techno dubstep, this album relishes in its breezy, buzzing sound. 'The Most Beautiful Ugly' may prove to be the blueprint for many tunes. The groovy ease of its many riddims paves the way for pretty much any guest vocalist appearance. It jetstarts a series of potential fabulous singles, but 'The Most Beautiful Ugly' can though be enjoyed on its own merits alone. There is enough taking place here to keep your mind from wandering away. Fizzy electronic dance music stretched over a wealth of tunes is not an every day offer. The album combines The Daft Dizzy and The Dark Dubs. And yet maintains to keep the cool. An inspiring album
