Miscellaneous - Classic Pop

intro

Our Website of the Month is the website for new bi-monthly print magazine, Classic Pop

www.classicpopmag.com is the website for new bi-monthly print magazine, Classic Pop. Classic Pop says about itself that it “celebrates the explosion of creativity and diversity in pop that redefined music in the late 70s, embodied the sound of the 80s, and continues to influence today.” Classic Pop examines genres as diverse as new wave, synth-pop, indie, ska and the new romantics. Its first edition includes interviews with the Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran’s John Taylor, Spandau Ballet, Paul Hardcastle, Nik Kershaw, Deacon Blue, Paul Young, the Art of Noise, the Christians, Blancmange and Frankie Goes to Hollywood. ABC’s ‘The Lexicon of Love’ is also given the Classic Album spotlight. "Classic Pop may well cover the music of our youth but it is targeted firmly at a sophisticated adult audience," explains Ian Peel, the magazine's editor and co-founder. "This audience is well catered for by radio, live concerts and physical/digital music releases of classic pop music, but it lacks a magazine and centre point to bring this passion into focus." "Pop is fun and forever youthful, but we're adults and we're approaching the magazine with an adult readership in mind. In Issue One, for example, we talk to photographer Laura Levine, famed for her portraits of Madonna and other rising stars of the early 80s New York underground. And we profile the artworks of James Marsh, the painter behind every Talk Talk album and single sleeve." The Classic Pop website builds on the print magazine, which runs to 132 pages, and includes a news section, a blog, Spotify links for many of the artists that it is promoting, and details about subscriptions and where it can be bought from.
