Anna Coogan and Daniele Fiaschi - The Nowhere, Rome Sessions
Label: Anna Coogan
Format: CD

intro

Emotive Americana on joint album between Seattle-born former opera singer Anna Coogan and Rome-based guitarist Daniele Fiaschi

Anna, from Seattle, and Daniele, from Very Old Rome, performed in Europe and America, with a language barrier between them whilst on tour. The binding factor of music bridged a somewhat unusual gap. Anna Coogan's epic tales, themed by travels, travelling and reflections on (her) life, are embraced by Daniele Fiaschi's clear and gentle playing. Daniele excels on 'Back to the World', striking the chords in fingerpicking steel guitar Americana. 'The Nowhere, Rome Sessions' makes for a good listen, and puts you in a relaxing mood, a mood which is only changed on the closing track, which was recorded in a small town in Limburg, in the Netherlands. And perhaps typical of the intimacy of these sessions, this cover of Phil Ochs's 'The Crucifixion' shows how Anna's voice seems to thrive before an audience, as opposed to her shyness in a studio.
