intro
Exuberant combination of dubstep and acidhouse from London-based techno musician, Stylus Rex
Doing justice to his name, Stylus Rex digs the groove as 'Blatant Elephant' enters the dancehall. Moulding tech house with dub is another way to explain the dance music recycling business, which combines this with supermarket dubmuzak terms. On the A-Side you feel like you are on a shopping trolley ride, but since the Tottenham riots the mood has definitely changed. London's laboratory, though, knows no end. With the 'Blatant Elephant' stamping around the room, Stylus Rex (just about in style) bounces from one corner wall on to the next. The 'Blatant Elephant' track comprises highly agile gymnastics, as if an elastica had gone haywire. Instead 'Blatant Elephant' may indeed be the perfect combination of dubstep and acidhouse. Two wildly exuberant dance styles find ground to fight over. On the flip 'Rhythm Roller', the extravaganza of breakbeats becomes even more poignant. As if building pyramids, there is no room left for remixes and such. 'Rhythm Roller' is pretty much one-dimensional yet fab fun. The album will be a hammering set leading to insights where dubstep and breakbeats meet up in new territory. 'Amplify' will be out in January, 2012.
