Miscellaneous - Window Shopping

intro

In 'Window Shopping', the latest poem in his 'Evidently Spencertown' poetry series, Spencer Robertshaw reflects on what propects the future holds for our children after the recent UK riots

Feral dogs in hoodies Attack without command Underclass the norm Now they make a stand Why work for the system That’s faulty by default? Settings haven’t changed So answer is revolt Petrol bombs and bricks Pay the entrance fee A bit of window shopping But no guarantee It’s the latest pastime For the Ipod generation But no rules to follow no master federation Plasma screens, laptops Electrical goods and like Taken by kids Can't reach the pedals on their bikes What about the children Born into this war? Can the schools break it Or is history again as before? The prisons are all full But we have to make a stand To save our fresh faced angels Before they join the band Stem the flow at source Before the revolution Underclass mentality Cerebral pollution Politicians say, we’ll sort out these thugs Onto the straight and narrow Clean and free from drugs But what else have these kids got And Berghaus don’t come cheap Keep up with the Joneses Got to go out and reap So the best a parent can do Is show love to their children And hopefully that’s enough To pacify their religion.
