intro
Assured fourth vinyl only single from self-titled debut album of much acclaimed London-based indie pop band, Allo Darlin'
Fortuna POP! are similar to Matinee in their ability to champion bands of an indie-pop nature and are still on a high from being the label behind the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart's incredible rise to relative stardom in 2009. This year their big success story, whilst not on the scale of TPOBPAH, is Allo Darlin', a female fronted quartet that are already gathering significant support from radio and media alike following the recent release of their self-titled debut LP. 'My Heart is a Drummer' is the fourth single to be lifted from the LP and is an assured slab of jingle-jangle heaven, with singer Elizabeth Morris sounding a little like the Sundays' Harriet Wheeler. Musically the band portray similarities to veterans Belle & Sebastian, 80's Subway Records favourites the Flatmates and, in light of Morris's association with Amelia Fletcher (she is a live playing member of Tender Trap), Heavenly. If the A-side wasn't wonderful enough, an excellent acoustic version of their last single, 'If Loneliness Was Art' adorns the b-side. Well worth investigation.
