intro
Tuneless debut single from the Pyramids, the side project of vocalist/guitarist S. Windett and drummer Arp from the Archie Bronson Outfit
The Pyramids start 'Hunch Your Body, Love Somebody' with feedback that sounds exactly like 'Glamour's Glue' by Morrissey from his 'Your Arsenal' album, but this is the highlight of the song as it quickly goes downhill from there. The guitars are fuzzy, not feedback fuzzy in a Jesus and Mary Chain style, but just fuzzy, grinding and unfocused. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse it does. Singer S. Windett decides to compete with the guitars to see who can make the most annoying sound and I can tell you it’s tough to know which is worse. His vocals on this sound like a tuneless Bob Dylan groaning with appendicitis. It’s difficult to know what he is singing. Unintelligible lyrics has never stopped some of the best songs ever being made but this sounds dreadful in ever sense of the word. At one stage he sings "Quick, quick, quick" and he’s right. Let's quickly get to the end of the song and play something more tuneful like Raging Speedhorn perhaps ?

Pyramids (2008) |
Enjoyable psychedelic garage rock from the Pyramids, the side project of the Archie Bronson Outfit's Sam Windett and Mark Clevelkand, which nevertheless sounds a little too much the same as their main group |
