Hell for Heroes are a post hardcore act from London. Formed in September 2000, the group played its first gig at the Half Moon pub in Putney three months later In January 2001. They self- released their debut EP, 'Sick Happy', in March of that year to coincide with their first national tour playing support to Biffo Clyro, and shortly after that signed to EMI with whom they released their debut album, 'The Neon Handshake', in 2003. Arguments about direction lead to them leaving EMI in 2004. The group's second album, 'Transmit Disruption', followed in 2005 on their own Captains of Industry label, before they released it again in 2006 through the Swedish punk label Burning Heart. Hell is for Heroes, who have a reputation as a strong live act, have also toured with Fugazi. They recently concluded a three week headlining tour of Britain. These photographs of singer Justin Schlosberg were taken on that tour at a gig on February 22nd at the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms exclusively for Pennyblackmusic by Katie Anderson
