intro

Stripped-to-the-bone urban dub on second album from the excellent Wasteland

For a second time, New York's I-Sound teams up with DJ Scud, London's loudest resident over the past 6 years.Scud is slowing down or I-Sound was in full charge. There is no cannonball firing and no mashed up breaks. 'October' sounds like it has been strategically disciplined by Scud, and then directed and blended by I-Sound. Wasteland's sound of ripping breakcore, while still stomping and pumping, is stripped to the bone and considerably slowed down. 'October' embraces sunny beams as much as it features funny beats. Like with Vladislav Delay's 'Anima', it is made with warm machines. Scud and I-Sound are like two space invaders who go 'woosh' over broken beats. "October' is covered in a blanket that has patterns of jazz and funk. Scud and I-Sound represent urban styles that both derive out of metropolitan chaos. Their meeting point is a melting pot of hypnotic tribal percussion. 'Saturation' in particular is a mighty brew. Mysterious forces find their way forward while a playful tune evolves. Mad man magicians they may have been, the Wasteland duo now ease over pounding yet crispy elektro riddims. Great Wasteland. Silly thing to write but true
