intro
Excellent downbeat hiphop on first full solo adventure from former Antipop Consortium member, Beans
After Antipop Consortium dismantled itself, Beans follows up with his debut album and first full solo adventure, 'Tomorrow Right Now'. Beans stayed with Warp Records who have preceeded this album release with an excellent hiphop promo single , 'Phreek the Beet' . 'Tomorrow Right Now' delivers upon what Antipop Consortium's classic album 'Arrhythmia' may only have promised to you. Multi-layers and confusion characterises Beans' debut. In his own words(-in 'Hot Venom') , it is a case of "solo go turbo" and Beans streaks through the freeform, downbeat, hiphop styles and also shows himself off to be a superb MC. Smart wit on 'Mutescreamer' adds a top 40 appeal to its genius beats. Beans' statement on the twin addictions of dope and his new drug , his bass, leads into the album's best track 'Rose Periwinkle Plum'. This meditative track combines tribal, illbient beats with mind wandering dance music. There's a wealth of challenges meanwhile on 'Tomorrow Right Now' , which you can also dance to at times. Just one thing's depressing about this album; a lot of experimental music will sound pretty dire after you have heard Beans. Should I mention the line from Captain Beefheart's 'Trout Mask Replica; classic "What do you run, Martin? A: I run on beans"? It makes you guess
