intro
Eccentric electronica on second EP from acclaimed Canadian duo, Vogue Dots
Vogue Dots is the collaboration between producers Babette Hayward and Tynan Dunfield. They were formed in Halifax, Canada in the crux of winter in March 2014, and this is their second offering which continues to develop the pop-flavoured dreamscape chilled ditties of their first EP, 'Toska'. This highly successful debut EP was one of Silent Shout's Top 15 EPs of 2015. Their form of electronica is the sort of music you can imagine accompanying a warm, still night on the patio with a couple of bottles of your favourite plonk. The whole EP is tinged with surrealistic edges. The first track, 'Way with Silence', is a smooth affair that won't go amiss on any chilled Ibiza compilation. 'Tux', the third track, is slightly different with a more up tempo beat and drifts a bit until the beat kicks in and its echoing dreamsong drifts around you. The final track 'Way Out' was released by the duo in August of last year as a single. Don't be fooled by the start on this one. You'll be rushing to the CD to turn it up, and then suddenly it erupts into dance territory. It is full of experimental stutterings, vocal meanderings, throbbing beats and swirling melodies. You can catch them live later this year at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton after doing a whole host of gigs in their homeland of Canada.
