intro
Haunting orchestral pop on latest single from Cambridge-based band, Fuzzy Lights
Spiralling orchestral pop extracted from their acclaimed recent LP ‘Rule of Twelfths’, ‘The Hour’ compacts Fuzzy Lights’ new, more concise direction into three minutes. Weaving its way along on jangling arpeggios, mellotron and string quartet, the track builds impressively to an unexpected climax with the introduction of a shredding distorted guitar solo at the close. The flip-side, an alternate version of album cut ‘Blind’, is a of a far darker hue, underscored by wind-powered harmonium, the spoken-sung lyrics and gothic choir grow in intensity before the introduction of a sinister vintage synth drone that gradually increases in volume before reaching a crescendo then vanishing.
