Impressive latest EP from Australian quintet the Morning After Girls

'Run for Our Lives' is the latest EP from Australian quintet the Morning After Girls. 'Run for Our Lives' begins as an acoustic number, before going electric with a 'You Really Got Me' style Kinks groove and a vocal from singer Scott Von Ryper that comes across as a combination between the Dandy Warhols' Courtney Taylor and the Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake. 'Straight Through You' is rocky with Byrds-style jangles. It is charming and sun filled but you sense it was written and performed in tight black leathers. 'Lazy Grey', which was recorded for a WXNY radio session, sounds like an acoustic Jesus and Mary Chain. This whole EP is great.
