intro
Diverse double pack of B sides and extras from electronic act, Enon which proves to be far superior to their official 'Hocus Pocus' album of last year
Here's the enhanced double-pack from Enon . The album contains videos and B-sides on an extra DVD and I find myself, as an official Deerhoof and Melt Banana devotee, enjoying a full length Enon for the very first time! Last year's Enon album - rather denounced by yours truly on these very webpages - was a mish mash of punky whispers with an added oriental touch from Toko Yasuda's singing. Now, while Toko Yasuda has stayed on board, Enon has become more of a John Schmersal project. Did they read my somewhat harsh comment and feel I was right? Golly, that would be great! Guess not though. 'Lost Marbles and Exploded Evidence' actually is an Enon collection of rarities and yet it makes a great listening session. As if it were a new Enon album. While still clocking in at under 45 minutes, Enon have successfully been overtaken on this compilation by Schmersal's studio direction. Schmers(z) translates as 'pain' from German by the way. 'Lost Marbles And Exploded Evidence' further refines the quirky new wave pop of Enon. Somehow and oddly enough the band initially felt these tracks didn't deserve to be on those albums, which are crammed with kicks and gimmickery. For once, bands could get better by checking past recordings! The diversity on this compilation could both lead to the band dismantling and lead to a new Enon. I'm keeping my crossed for the latter. This set includes brainy pop and shuffling beats in a sequence that Enon should have thought of beforehand.
