intro
Latest single from former Icicle Works frontman turned solo artist Ian McNabb
Well, they do, don' t they ? This is the former Icicle Works' frontman's first single since 'Truth and Beauty Days' sees Ian singing pop, something that he has never done in such style as on this recording. The song is all about changing attitudes, what guys do for a pretty young thing of the other sex, all done with clever lyrics, and delivered in a sweet manner. 'They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is a cover of the song of the same title from the 1969 Jane fonda movie. It is elegantly played, as par normal, but with Roy Corkhill deep bass grooves, that sit nicely with Ian's easy style vocal, that is both reflective and masterful at the same time. 'Message from the Country' finds Ian in reflective mood, looking over his shoulder and reviewing the past , but also with an eye on now and looking forward to the future. Every copy of the 7" version is signed and the B side of this, 'They Will Find You Out', is far superior to the other B sides of this single. It is his best new song in ages, and is perfectly delivered in an mature and elegant way, with a lush production, and sounds as beautiful as classic era Brian Wilson.
