intro
Snappy high energy rock pop om sixth album from all girl female group, who ahve become increasingly more refined with each new record
The Donnas are a four piece all girl band from California, which features Brett Anderson on vocals, Torri Castellano on drums, Allison Roberts on guitar and last, but definitely not last, Maya Ford on bass. Since their first album five albums ago and six years ago the Donnas have gone from strength to strength. From raw Ramone-style beginnings they seem to have added a little more lyrically and musically with each album and become increasingly more refined. This shines through on 'Gold Medal'. It is one of the most high energy rock pop albums I've heard in ages. There are some great guitar riffs and it is very finely produced with a really clean cut sound. While it is a much more commercial album than their older indie material, the transformation has been consistent and gradual, and the band's trademark sound of strong harmonies and punchy guitars is stamped all over it. For anyone who likes a good rock pop female band (of which there aren't too many nowadays), 'Gold Medal' comes highly recommended. If you’re looking for a really good rock pop album, then look no further. The Donnas are here.
