intro
Raw booze-fuelled rock that will prove appealing to fans of Five Horse Johnson, Alabama Thunder Pussy and similar stoner rock acts
Distortion ... yelling ... distortion. The Glasspack’s music is raw, tough rock that will please the ears of fans of such booze-fuelled combos as Five Horse Johnson, Alabama Thunder Pussy and their stoner rock brethren. Lead singer “Dirty” Dave Johnson sounds like he’s singing from the bottom of a well (presumably having fallen in after an all-night drinking binge and glass-gargling session), musically, the band is a poor-man’s Fu Manchu, with side orders of Monster Magnet (Magnet guitarist Ed Mundell guests on closing instrumental 'Peepshow'), New Bomb Turks, Nebula and Kyuss. The Glasspack apparently knocked out the album — 10 originals and a bareknuckled rendition of the Rolling Stones’ 'Gimme Shelter' — in the space of three days, and it sounds like it. If you like your stoner rock methed-up, rough and ready to rumble the Glasspack will no doubt be more than capable of smacking you about the head in the way of your choosing.
