Melodic sounds and a voice that blends with extreme ease provide us with the Bouncing Souls' single release 'Gone'. Straying not from the genuine punk feel, 'Gone' encompasses a new softer line that now flows distinctly; a catchy track that would sound good on any album. From New York, and energized by superb performances on the Deconstruction Tour, the Bouncing Souls provide us with a track off their 5th album, 'How I Spent My Summer Vacation', which was released back in May. Fresh and exciting, 'Gone' searches beyond the doubt that clouds our minds, finding an answer that is to eventually dispel the darkness within. The clarity that is found should, one would hope, never become dull again. The B-sides, 'Overnight (Theme from American High)' and 'Manthem', are almost as tasty as the A-side and are certainly worth listening to; there is no doubt about that. When regulations were introduced limiting the number of tracks on Cd singles to only there, Punk releases must have been forgotten as the songs are usually short, and this is the only disappointing element of this single is that it is far too short. Do not let this put you off, however. as the music is definitely worthwhile.
