intro
Beautifully packaged reissue for the first time on vinyl of pioneering 80's indie band This Poison's only John Peel session
Over the last couple of years or so Precious Recordings of London have been releasing BBC radio sessions in the shape of beautifully packaged gatefold double 7” singles by various indie bands from the !980s and 1990s. This Poison! are the latest to get the treatment with their only John Peel session finally seeing the light of day on vinyl. As a band they were short-lived and only released a couple of singles in the mid 80’s, which is pretty surprising considering they created the kind of glorious three minute jangle guitar pop that was very much en vogue at the time. They sounded a little like a Scottish The Wedding Present, which is probably why their two singles came out on that band own Reception label. Of the four session tracks, ‘It’ll All Work Out’ is probably the best, but in truth, as said by 6 music’s Gideon Coe, “Four great songs full of hooks…… What more do you want?”. Time to track down those two singles me thinks!
