intro
Fabulous seven inch vinyl single from young French garage/psychedelic rock act, the Missing Souls
The Missing Souls are a new band to me, but within a note of hearing this single I was a fully paid-up and instant member of this group's fan club. They come from France and have only been around since 2015, and I have to say after listening To this that when people say no one is making decent new music then you just have to look a little harder. This is only the Missing Souls@ fourth release but their third 7 inch single. The band consists of Zaza Sharps on bass and vocals, Little Big Ian on vocals and guitar, while Ricky Bilbao plays organ and bass and Lester Mizzi hits the drums. Within a second of listening to the A side, 'Sweet, Sweet Sadie', I put my reviewing pen down to start dancing around my room to its wonderful psyched-up and fuzzed-up sound. 'Sweet, Sweet Sadie' is a fantastic song originally written and recorded by the Teardrops, but here in the Missing Souls' hands it is meaner and has more of a punk edge. The B-side, 'The Alligator', another cover, this time of a song by the US Four, and is a beat infusion of cool grooves and chords that hit the spot yet again. A perfect five minutes of time which is well spent here.
