intro
Excellent, if formulaic punk pop on fifth studio album from Newcastle-based group, Milky Wimpshake
If you have already read my review of the new Tullycraft album, you might think that I have just copy-pasted that one here. I haven’t. But, just as with the Tullycraft album, things are more or less status quo in the land of Milky Wimpshake. With that said, there’s one big difference: if that was a bad thing when it came to Tullycraft, it’s a good thing when it comes to Pete Dale and his band mates in Milky Wimpshake. A couple of years ago, they released their latest effort, 'My Funny Social Crime', and not a lot has happened since then. It’s still tweeish punk rock with lyrics about everything from politics to everyday life at the office, delivered by the aforementioned M Dale in his usual undismayed manner. And, keeping with their tradition, there are a couple of cover versions thrown in here as well, this time from singer/songwriter Jack Thackray ('Lah-di-dah') and Les Cox ('Omnia Mea Mecum Porto'). All in all, this is yet another great album from Newcastle’s finest, even though I could might as well put on their previous four albums instead…
