intro
Clever, but inconsistent and frequently bland sunshine pop on debut album from Seattle-based band, the Soft Hills
From Seattle with its grand mountain range lying in the background, come the Soft Hills playing a pop pastiche. Akin to coming from an area way down south, such as the Bay area in San Francisco, the Soft Hills merge that West Coast laconic touch with a multitude of pop styles. Hypnosis holding the upper hand, the Soft Hills perform orchestrated indie rock and with equal sway also play whichever mainstay is required. Their cleverly thought out pop music dwells upon post-new wave history. Melodic all the way, 'Chromatisms' is inconsistent in style, and also in character. File under exquisite noodlings. Marks should read: inertia, indifference, yet a certain quality cannot be denied. Wasted and spoilt, you name it.
