intro

Oddly timed reissue of critically acclaimed Scottish band Win's 1989 second album, irrepairably damaged by its excessive and over sugar sweet 1980's production

Win was the late 1980's project of Davey Henderson, the former Fire Engines and Nectarine No 9 front man. He is now with latest band the Sexual Objects whose long awaited debut album 'Cucumber' came out in June, which makes this reissue a bit puzzling timing wise. Win's 1989 critically-acclaimed second album, 'Freaky Trigger', can be described by two short words from this camp - Hard Work. I'm not one for complaining about bonus tracks, but this release boasts six ,which is four, maybe five too many. The 80's spawned so many awful contrived throwaway projects when the major labels where cash rich, decadence ruled and throwing money at artists and awful producers was fashionable. My dislike of the disposable decade is in abundance in this re-release. It features dreadful awful electronic drums, stabby synths and the dreaded 12 "remixes, which are extended of course. This is sugary sweet in excess. Don't get me wrong. It has its moments with some grinding guitar work and a few half decent pop songs. 'What You'll Do 'Til Sunday Baby?' is not a bad opener but it soon becomes way too sickly and eighteen tracks of this complete with all these extended remixes are just too much for one sitting.
