intro
Promising new single from Glasgow-based experimental rock outfit, Flood of Red
With opening beats reminiscent of U2's 'New Year's Day', 'Home Run (2007)', the new single from Glasgow based Flood of Red, engages the listener as soon as it blasts out of the speakers. This powerful song is undeniably catchy and engaging, with a wonderful set of riffs on guitar. The use of a complex layered sound, whilst confusing a couple of times, is used to excellent effect here, and proves that Flood of Red are not afraid of experimenting. The CD Single only contains the single track, and without any remixes or B-sides this is decidedly stark in hindsight. Also, I found whilst initially engaging, the song has little replay appeal. Their use of layered sound is fantastic, but can occasionally become confusing, but I suspect more time spent in the studio will solve this problem. Depite the aforementioned lack of replay appeal, this is a fantastic re-release by Flood of Red that shows they have a lot of potential, and I will be eagerly looking forward to hearing their future releases.
