intro

Repetitive and quickly tiresome chaotic-in-sund indiepop on debut album from Lancaster-based duo, the Lovely Eggs

Late last year, I wrote about the second EP release from the British duo The Lovely Eggs, 'Have You Ever Heard… The Lovely Eggs ?' and compared them to Bearsuit, a comparison mostly based on the fact that they mixed great pop tunes with ramshackle guitars, drums and other noises and screams, just like my old favourites from Norwich. On this, the first album from David and Holly, we get fourteen tracks in the same vein, and even though there are some good songs here, I started to feel full after just five tracks. Nearly all the songs start out quietly and then, when the chorus arrives, they start playing and smashing all the things they could get their hands on in the studio. Then we are back to the quiet verse again and so it goes. If you want chaotic indiepop, I would recommend 'Cat Spectacular' by the aforementioned Bearsuit instead. The Lovely Eggs just gets tiresome after a while. Sorry, Holly and David.
