intro
Raw low budget punk on splendid new single from Welsh musician, Helen Love
‘Calm Down Dad’ is a new 3 track 7 inch and download from Welsh punkster, Helen Love. The title track is a song about the timeless generation gap, and the story of a young girl who is a Goth and her Dad who still likes the Clash. Helen's minimalist attack has a fast Darling Buds/Primitives rawness and, recorded on an obvious tight budget , is great fun because of it. The B side features ‘John Peel Roadshow’ and ‘Candylips’. ‘John Peel Roadshow, is a tale of getting a demo tape to the most important man in indiedom, and also about falling in love at one of his roadshow discos. ‘Candylips’, the third track, is fast and furious with a Ramones -style pace and rhythm, and a song full of summer sunshine to lift us out of these cold winter nights. Perfect !
