intro
Well-performed, but otherwise totally unremarkable heavy metal on debut album from new Manchester-based trio Fury UK
With an appropriate sounding name, hailing back to the classic metal of AC/DC and Iron Maiden at their height (Small wonder, given they recently supported Blaze Bayley, Iron Maiden’s former lead singer), Fury UK's debut album open up with the promising 'Kreuger'. I, however, soon found my attention starting to drift, as the hooks did not lead into anything that was new or exciting. Although formulaic, the guitar work is undeniably excellent. Equally, the vocals by Chris Appleton are adequate, if sadly forgettable. Likewise, Martin McNee's drumming is effectively used in the expected points. This, however, represents my inoffensive impression of this album. While there no nothing particularly negative about Fury UK, neither are any there any noteworthy aspects, which perhaps reinforces my disappointment. Performing in such an established musical genre, Fury UK needs to build upon the existing foundations (much like Nickleback have done), or otherwise the genre stagnates. Overall, there is nothing particularly wrong with this album, but there is nothing new which eventually leads to a relatively disappointing experience. Hopefully this will be resolved in future albums.
