intro
Punchy-sounding guitar rock on vinyl only single from North London group Undercut
With a name like Undercut you know you’re not getting a sentimental boy band, and indeed what you get is something with a lot more bite and a lot more punch. 'Hot In That' has a rumbling and dirty sound that is easy to take to. Throughout it holds back from itself. It promises a lot of forthcoming energy and you feel it’s just waiting to burst into life which it does in its chorus, before when it returns to its verses the whole song takes a back seat once more. You anticipate that the whole thing is going to blow up in your face, but it never quite gets to that level. 'Hot In That' is a well crafted, competent and creatively-played and has a chorus that reminds you of Terrorvision. Undercut have consciously tried to sound different from their contemporaries which is no bad thing, but unlike many of them they is they have managed to do this and to make a success of it too.
