intro
Nostalgic latest single from Sarah Nixey, a cover of the Human League song 'The Black Hit of Space'
Sarah Nixey chose 'The Black Hit of Space', an old Human League track which originally appeared on the album 'Travelogue', to close her recent debut album 'Sing, Memory'. She explained her reason for covering it, saying, to quote her, that "it has an otherworldly feel to it which is what I hope to achieve with the album". Now it is out on limited-to-500 only signed 7 inch hand numbered vinyl and as a 3 track cd single. The 7 inch and cd single feature the radio edit of 'The Black Hit of Space'. It is very emotional, bassy and dark, A song about the love of vinyl records, it is very early 80's in style and a beautiful trip back in time. Sarah does beautiful justice to the song and makes it totally danceable. It is sung in such a style that it makes you forget all of your troubles. While the 7 inch single is a one track only release, the CDS also features two other tracks. 'Strangelove (Slowlove)' has a slowed down groove and is a new reading of her second solo single. Sarah's vocal is seductive while a solo piano floats over the top. The production sits well giving it a late evening feel. A track about reflection, it is the best version of this song that I have heard. The Magus Projection Mix of 'The Black Hit of Space' is an all out dance mix, which isn't for me at all and is one for the ravers out there.
