intro
Enjoyable but hardly essential reissue of garage rock trio the Archie Bronston Outfit's 'Dart for My Sweetheart' single, re-released to coincide with a British tour
This reissue from the Archie Bronson Outfit's highly acclaimed album 'Derdang Derdang' is basically a ploy to keep up the interest in the trio as they embark on a mini UK tour. There is nothing wrong with that but it offers nothing different from when it was originally released. C’mon, Domino, at least make a little effort. What’s wrong with, say, maybe a live version of the song? 'Dart for My Sweetheart' though is brash, heady mix of garage rock and Captain Beefheartian blues. Pennyblackmusic may have to change its original verdict on the original single as being “ultimately, rather dull” as it does grab your attention but it’s still the weakest track of the three. The highlight is really its B side 'Fire Horse', a three-minute stomp as if Spacemen 3 were covering Son House.
