intro
Appetising second album from Tender Trap, the latest band of former Talulah Gosh and Heavenly star Amelia Fletcher
'6 Billion People' is the second album from former Talulah Gosh and Heavenly girl Amelia Fletcher's latest band. The title track opens the album and sees the band having grown musically since their debut, 'Film Molecules', a few years ago.It sounds something like early Creation band the Loft, while the tale being sung is about finding your true love, a very familiar and old theme for Amelia. 'Talking Backwards' sounds like a twee classic, while 'Inuit Beauty Queen' has a weird musical rhythm to it and is based around keyboards. 'I Would Die For You', which is about the meaning of love and what you are prepared to do for it, has a fast pace and is very charming. 'Applecore' is very lo-fi, with a bit of riot gurl thrown in, a song about choices and what you decide to go for. 'Fahrenheit 451' takes it name from the famous Ray Bradbury book and 60's film and is a slow number. Both are set in the future and are about burning books as their evil. Someone please tell Morrissey then ! 'Ampersand' sounds disjointed and a little like the Breeders. '(I Always Love You When I'm) Leaving You' sounds quite 60's in style, and is a heart broken tale. 'Dreaming of Dreaming' is quite punky. Amelia's vocals here sounds like she is all seeing, while the music sounds like a combination of the pixies and far out Pink Floyd. 'Dead and Gone' is a song about reflection with a slow, cool 'Sister Ray' sound, before it slows down into a Broadcast style groove.
