intro

Chaotic, but likeable new wave influenced debut album from Swedish group Love is All, which recalls both Altered Images and the Sugarcubes

This debut album from Swedish band Love is All has been a best seller on import for a number of months now, and is absolutely smashing to listen too. 'Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk' is very noisy and has the spirit of Altered Images. Lashes of brass give it a late 70's new wave feel. It is chaotic in tone, but works well. 'Ageing Had Never Been His Friend' is a 70's new wave number with edgy bass and a Clare Grogan/Bjork style vocal from singer Josephine Olausson. 'Turn the Radio Off' is more 60's in style with great jangly guitars. The vocal is cleaner and sung well, not in a noisy manner, and quite twee. 'Used Goods' is very new wave with shouted vocals and sounds like early Blondie. Recent single 'Busy Doing Nothing' is fast proud and loud. 'Make Out Fall Out Make Up' is very fast and like a thrashy Altered Images, while 'Felt Tip' has a deep bass, a softly sung vocal and sounds like Goth-era the Cure. 'Spinning and Scratching' is again like early Blondie, but with brass and Bjork-style vocals. 'Turn the TV Off' is more together, sounding like a combination of the Cure and the Velvet Underground, while Josephine's vocal sounds like Sonya Madan from Echobelly or Louise Wener from Sleeper. 'Trying to Hard' is fast , fun, very loud and punky again, a good song to pogo too. This is definitely a great little band here.
