intro
Bubbly and enjoyable collection of remixes from friends and fans of songs by Swedish band Love is All
Sweden's Love Is All released their debut ‘Nine Times That Same Song’ back in 2006, and are currently recording its follow-up at the moment. In the meantime comes this remix album by friends and fans of the group. ‘Felt Tip (Fryars Remix)’ opens the project, and, sung as a duet between Nicholaus Sparding and Josephine Olausson, instantly sounds like a remix. It is is keyboards based, but light and fluffy in an early Depeche Mode style. ‘Spinning and Scratching (Metronomy Remix)’ has an early 80’s style production, while Nicholas’ nervy vocal is reminiscent of the Talking Heads’ David Byrne and the Gang of Four’s John King. ‘Busy Doing Nothing (An Optimo (Espacio) Mix)’ is synth based and poppy, and, sung by Josephine like Bjork when she was in the Sugarcubes, has a massive sound. The guitar is chunky in tone and, as it progresses, becomes much more house based. ‘Make Out, Fall Out, Make Up (The Bees Version)’ has a 1970’s soul like feel with groovy organ and added brass and a shouted vocal from Josephine. The ‘Turn the Radio up (Maps Remix)’ has more electronica than the original track and it ends up sounding more like Maps than Love Is All. ‘Busy Doing Nothing (Tapedeck Remix)’ comes over like an avant garde Sugarcubes, while ‘Make Out, Fall out, Make Up (A Chicken Lips Malfunction) starts off with a shouted, house feel, but as it warms up it gets more ear friendly and develops a head nodding groove. ‘Turn the Radio Off (Remake by Studio)’ has a Talking Heads/ ‘Psycho Killer’ rhythm and a punky Altered Images/early Sugarcubes flow to it with global world beats also thrown into the pot. ‘Felt Tip (Hot Chip Remix)’ ends the album, and sounds like it's off to fairy land in a mad Bjork way but is very graceful and bubbly with it.
