intro
Enjoyable psychobilly from crazy Los-Angeles based Danish group Horrorpops
The crazy Danes via Los Angeles are at it again. Horrorpops’ latest offering 'Bring It On 'is a must for anyone looking for ideas of what modern psychobilly bands should sound like. Like all bands of this exceptional genre, mixing schlock B-Movie horror with a modern melodic punk twist can be cool if you get it right. But it’s over-prescribed and full of poseurs like most punk genres. It takes a band of talent to stand out and these guys do it brilliantly with their own Scandinavian charm. But having one of the Necromantix, an ex-member of the excellent Tiger Army in the ranks of the band and the inclusion of singer Patricia Day’s stand-up bass playing and No Doubt-esque vocals (If No Doubt were any good) should be considered talent enough, shouldn't it ? Stand out tracks 'Freaks in Uniform', a tirade against music scenesters and the excellent 'Walk Like a Zombie', a song about a lover who needs to get their priorities right, oozes pop-punk from every orifice This is a must for anyone who likes raw music that both rocks and is also pleasant to the ears.

Danish punks the Horrorpops combine their horror pyschobilly with a camp-gothic sound. While undoubtedly entertaining enough, Helen Tipping finds their theatrical brand of rock leaving her cold at Sheffield's Club Zero |
