intro
Variable eclectic guitar rock from Danish group Horrorpops, who "sound like a rockabilly No Doubt at their best, but at their worst as if the Flintstones formed a band"
Horrorpops hail from Denmark as do my favourite group of the moment, the Raveonettes. Both are fans of horror, but give me the Raves anyday. Horrorpops sound like a rockabilly No Doubt at their best, but at their worst as if the Flintstones formed a band. The cover is impressive but the band try to hard to be cool and much of this sounds like something from the 80's mainstream. I really wanted to like this but it's hard. They even give ska a go which they do fairly well, but then they ruin it by throwing in a Cramps style track which ends up sounding like the B52s. It is amusing during its spin time but nothing earth shaking unfortunately.

Danish punks the Horrorpops combine their horror pyschobilly with a camp-gothic sound. While undoubtedly entertaining enough, Helen Tipping finds their theatrical brand of rock leaving her cold at Sheffield's Club Zero |
