Achingly beautiful new single from Interpol, which contains four B-sides of tracks off their new album 'Antics' each one remixed by a different member of the band

Interpol are probably the one band that define the current indie generation, their first album was the desperation soaked slow burner ‘Turn On The Bright Lights,’ and their second ‘Antics’ was the album of 2004 and has already gone gold. Which begs the question – why bother releasing a third single? Surely a group with such a strong selling record need not add another single to promote their already sold out tour. It would be far too atypically Industry for Interpol to play by the book and, as you might expect ‘C’mere’ breaks the rules. To start with there are four B-sides making it ineligible for the charts and most importantly they are all album tracks remixed by each member of the band. The single itself is an achingly beautiful three minutes of terse, open ended riffs overlaid with a rare kind of emotional clarity often lost in Paul Banks’ oblique delivery. His remix is equally rare in its stripped to the bone, haunting take of ‘Narc.’ Drummer Sam Fogarino recruits Bob Mould of Sugar for his version of ‘Length Of Love’ creating a drug-fuelled dance floor frenzy out of the original’s soaring intensity. Similarly Carlos D programmes an 80's drenched electro stomp rendition of ‘Public Pervert,’ reminiscent of New Order at their finest. This single really is a must for the ever increasing ranks of Interpol devotees, but for those of you who aren’t, you really should get the album.
